People in Japan are preparing to celebrate a special holiday on May 5th! Your challenge is to discover the name of this holiday.
The first person to correctly identify the holiday will be honored here:
Louise was the first to correctly identify the Japanese Holiday of Children's Day.
When I first heard about this holiday I was in fifth grade. Of course I ran home and told my mom that we should celebrate this great holiday. Her answer was so predictable that I knew even as it left her lips. She said, "Around here, everyday is Children's Day." I think she probably sent me to clean my room in honor of Children's day.
If you were in charge, how would you have families celebrate Children's Day?

Mr. Lahr,
The Japanese holiday on May 5th is kodomo-no-hi, also known as Children's Day. It's the Holiday of Children! If only they had that here...

Hello Mr. Lahr,
Meh...wanted to be the first one to post, but I had to do some other stuff...oh well.
Anyway, I guess I can answer the question like everyone else, or I could write a little about it. I think the latter is better! Here it is: Kodomo no Hi, which is spelled like this in Japanese: (こどもの日, means "Children's Day." It is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5, which is the fifth day of the fifth month and is also a part of the Golden Week. It is a day set aside to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. It was designated a National holiday by the Japanese government in 1948.
The information was taken, but not copied from this valuable website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tango_no_Sekku

P.S. Can you make the next question ultra difficult so that not everyone gets it right? Please...

Let the kids choose how to celebrate it. Everyone will head to Disneyland.
Dear Mr. Lahr,
Hmmm... I wouldn't really celebrate children's day as I believe everyday is children's day. My parents will take care of me every single day and no one day would they take care of me more than the other days. So yeah, that's what I believe in. Ofcourse, different people have different opinions, but I'm sure everyone, including me, wouldn't mind having a children's day in the United States...

if i could go to anywhere and do any thing for children's day, it would be to go to paris to go shopping because they are 1 year ahead in fashion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Lahr,
If I were to go anywhere in children's day, I want to fly to Paris, England, and Japan to go shopping. Mainly, I'd want to fly to Japan because their art and culture is very interesting there and I would really want to see them. Plus, I'd want to taste their sushi, and read their anime/manga books ever though they are in Japanese writing!!! I'd also want to wear Japanese clothes like kimonoes and regular clothes that may be sold in Japan!!

Hello Mr. Lahr,
How come we don't celebrate Children's Day in the United States?

Hey Mr Lahr,
Did the Japanese randomly think of celebrating children, because the US needs to do such. Why don't Americans celebrate Children's Day?
