Hey Mr. Lahr,
Funny Pic! Well Sumo wrestling is still common today, the tradition is very ancient, and even today the sport includes many ritual elements, such as the use of salt for purification. Sumo was used in the Shinto religon. And all sumo wrestlers take wrestling names called shikona. There is very interesting stuff about this and i plan on posting more, later though because I'm running out of time, but just wanted to leave a little note because that was one of the assignments today!!

Hi Mr. Lahr,
Um, wow. How did you get yourself involved in sumo wrestling? Well, sumo wrestling is a sport where two opponents, also known as rikishi try to shove each other out of a ring, also called a dohyo. Good luck with the wresling. Have someone take pictures so we can all see you fight! Maybe you could record it and next year, they could play it on the bulletin.

Umm.....yeah. Yeah, sumo wrestling. Wow, expecially by someone like you...Well, at least if you get injuired, you can at least say that you had a good experience, right? Well, maybe not, but still, I would have volunteered too if it was me. Anyway, umm...sumo wrestling is pretty much a form of wrestling in Japan, where a contestant wins by forcing his opponent out of the ring. He can also be the victor by causing him to touch the ground with any part of his body other than the soles of his feet. The contestants are usually being men, who weighs at least a ton (no offense!) and are enormouse in size. Good luck, Mr. Lahr. Hope you don't hurt yourself!

personally sumo wrestling has always somewhat scared me....the men who do the fighting are just so big....and i have always had the image in head that right before the match starts the sumo wrestler would growl at me...but thats just me. have fun

This is J-man saw your picture and to me i think it is funny to see an older man in diapers, but for me i already did my fair share when i was one. As you know Sumo wresting is a very common sport. Back when it first began it was more of a game of honor and being the best. Now a days it is more for entertainment and beting. The goal of the game is to force your opponet out of the ring with a given time. the rules are quiet simple do anything to win or be punished by your master shall you lose. Very exciting huh.;)
Hi Mr. Lahr , that is really funny did know that Japanese Sumo Wrestling is one of the oldest martial arts in Japan. Sumo wrestlers were a favorite subject on Japanese woodblock prints. In contrast to some of the traditional Japanese art forms like kabuki, which has a heavy stand in today's world, sumo wrestling is enjoying a rising popularity comparable to basketball in North America or soccer in Europe.thats realy cool.

Hey Mr. Lahr,
Sumo wrestling is a competitive contact sport where two wrestlers(rikishi) are trying to force one another out of a ring(dohyo). Either that or they try to knock the oppenent to the ground. The winner would be the one who pushed their opponent out of the ring. You can also win if the opponent touches the ground with any part of their body except their feet since it has to touch the ground.

Thats a great pic Mr.Lahr, but I dont know if sumo wrestling is for you. At least you will have had a new experience if you decide to volunteer, right? I think you should wrestle, even if it isn,t the best thing you ever decided to do.

That is one heck of a picture! Well japanese sumo wrestling is one of the oldest martial arts in Japan. A sumo wrestling match is accompanied by a lot of traditional ceremony. The marching-in of the wrestlers is a sequence of formal rituals. The wrestlers are accompanied by two assistants - one walking in front and one behind him - the one behind is usually hard to spot.The referee is clad in a luxurious kimono and wears a strange hat. After performing a series of opening rituals, the contest begins. A sumo wrestling match is accompanied by a lot of traditional ceremony. The marching-in of the wrestlers is a sequence of formal rituals. The wrestlers are accompanied by two assistants - one walking in front and one behind him - the one behind is usually hard to spot.The wrestling match is all about pushing or throwing the opponent out of the doyo - the ring - or to bring the other guy down on the floor. Well, I hope this helps you understand the art of sumo wrestling, and hope you do well.
